I woke up this morning to the sound of a stormy rain and wind. it was my day off, I headed to the city. Free transportation on Sundays in Perth is the best thing! I found a meetup a few days ago, but I hadn’t applied. I hesitated about contacting the organizers because it was the day, but when I contacted her that morning, she replied that I could still join, so I decided to join. Japanese people and people interested in Japanese and Japan gathered to interact. I don’t think I would have enjoyed the conversation two years ago. Thinking about it, I realized that my English skills still have long way to go, but maybe it has improved a little. It was here that I made my first friend since coming to Perth. Afterwards, one of the participants drove us to Fremantle, and I went to Fremantle Markets with a Japanese friend. Even though we were both Japanese, we tried to communicate in English, sometimes in English and sometimes in Japanese, until we got home. Because we shared a common language, Japanese language helped us each other out when we didn’t understand something, and our hobbies and backgrounds were somewhat similar, it was very cozy and made it hard to believe we’d met for the first time. we also went to a beach by the Indian Ocean for the first time and saw a beautiful sunset. I was feeling a little down yesterday, but going outside and making friends lifted my spirits and refreshed me. It was the most fulfilling and enjoyable day of my first weekend as a working holiday . I’ll do my best next week too.
朝、嵐すぎる雨風の音で目が覚めた。休みだったからシティの方まで出かけた。日曜日のパースは交通費が無料なのが最高すぎる。数日前に見つけたmeetupがあって、でも応募はしていなくて、当日だから主催者に連絡するか迷ったけど、朝連絡してみたら、まだ参加できると返信が来たので参加した。日本人と日本語や日本に興味がある人たちが集まって交流した。２年前の自分だったら会話を楽しめてなかったと思う。そう思うと自分の英語力はまだまだだけど少しは成長しているのかもしれないとも思った。ここでパースに来て初めて友達ができた。その後フリーマントルまで車で送ってもらって、友達になった日本人の子と一緒にフリーマントルマーケットに行った。日本人同士だけど英語で話してみようと帰るまで英語時々日本語で話した。共通言語が日本語だからこそわからないときに助け合えたり、趣味や経歴？が少し似ていて初めてあったとは思えないほど居心地が良かった。初めてインド洋のビーチに行けて綺麗なサンセットも見れた。昨日は少し心が沈んでいたけど、外に出て友達ができたことで気分も晴れてリフレッシュできた。ワーホリ生活初めての週末、最高に充実してて楽しい１日だった。来週もがんばろう。
