Since arriving, I couldn’t go outside for a long time because there had been many stormy days and work commitments, so I finally went outside for the first time in a while. The sky was clear and blue, and it was really good weather. After about 40 minutes of walking, I finally found a small supermarket, so I walked there. I miss the conveniences of Japan in the first week of my working holiday. However, the endless sky and roads, perfect nature, I’ve realized that this is why I like Australia so much. When I got home, I made dinner for the children. When the youngest child saw me, he called out “(my name)!”—so cute. He always smiled when washing his hands, and it’s become a routine for us to wash together, pointing out which parts to wash. For dinner, he starts eating the same thing his sister is having. Sometimes he eats something else after that, but more often he doesn’t. Same as the children in my host family when I studied abroad, it seems normal for them to not force themselves to eat something they don’t like and to have no hesitation about leaving food on their plates. I think this is different from Japan. I also feel the importance of food education, and I’m curious to see how it’s taught in Australia. During evening TV time, he tries to tell the shows(words) he wants to watch and says ”no” if he doesn’t want to watch. I think he’s in the process of learning a lot of words, like colors and shapes, through TV (YouTube). It’s a valuable experience and I’m happy to be able to experience real life in Australia.
到着してから嵐の日が多かったのとお仕事の都合でずっと外に出ることができなくて久しぶりに外に出た。雲ひとつない青空が広がっていて気持ちいい天気だった。４０分ぐらい歩いたところにやっと小さなスーパーマーケットがあるのでそこまで歩いた。どこまでも続く広い空と道、のんびりした豊かな自然。日本の便利さが恋しくなるワーホリ生活１週間目だけど、これがオーストラリアを好きな理由だなあと感じた。家に帰って子どもたちの夕食作り。下の子は私の顔をみると「（私の名前）！」と呼ぶのがすごくかわいい。手を洗う時もニコニコしていて、どこを洗うのか示しながら一緒に洗うのがルーティンになってきた。夜ご飯はまず最初にお姉ちゃんが食べているものと同じものを食べる。そのあとは他のものを食べることもあるが、食べない時の方が多い。留学時のホストファミリーの子どもたちもそうだったが、嫌いなものは無理して食べない、残すことに抵抗がないのが普通のように思える。日本とは違う部分だなと思う。そして食育の大切さを感じるし、オーストラリアでどのように食育されているのか気になっている。夜のテレビの時間、みたい番組を単語で必死に伝えて、違うものはNoと言う。色や形などテレビ（YouTube）を通してたくさんの言葉を覚えている途中なんだなと思う。オーストラリアのリアルな生活を体験できるのは貴重なことだし嬉しい。
